Toxin Highlight: "Vit D" or Cholecalciferol
Share
What is Vitamin D?
First, we'll cover it in the form you're probably familiar with. This is the oral supplement, prescribed by mainstream and alternative doctors all the like.
This form of Vitamin D (cholecalciferol) can be synthesized from lanolin, lichen, yeast, algae or mushrooms (that I know of). And.. ultimately, they all end up as the exact same thing! The Steroid hormone "cholecalciferol", or what we call "vitamin D".
What about real Vitamin D? Well, for that one, we make it on our skin naturally when we are in sunlight or exposed to UVB light. Some people use UVB lamps or tanning beds (with UVB bulbs). This is a safe and natural way to get vitamin D, because the body sulfates it and makes it water soluble, so that it does not build up in the system and become toxic.
But taking any kind of Cholecalciferol (vitamin D) supplement by mouth is where it gets toxic, this oral supplement form is fat soluble and will accumulate in the body to toxic levels easily, causing damage. Especially with the obscenely high doses often being recommended by medical professionals these days (50,000 IU!?). But taking less will slowly accumulate in your system all the same, even in modest doses. The toxic accumulation can lead to hypercalcemia, kidney stones, kidney failure (extreme cases), cardiovascular disease, hypothyroidism and much more.
This is because it is NOT a vitamin. It is steroid. It was never meant to be consumed in large quantities orally, where the body can't regulate it properly.
Diagnostics and Testing Issues
Another problem is with the diagnostics. The lab companies (or governing bodies) changed the "lab low level" from 12.5ng/ml up to 30ng/ml back in 2010. So suddenly, overnight, it made it appear that the majority of the population was deficient when they were NOT.
There's no evidence that having storage D (25-hydroxy vitamin D) levels over 20 is beneficial, whatsover. Yet, Doctors are trying to get people to supplement their levels to values over 50, and sometimes even over 80! This is dangerous and can create a litany of downstream health issues.
There are also dozens of other "D" molecules that are never acknowledged or tested, including even the "active D" (1,25 OHD), which is hardly ever low when it actually gets tested on occasion.
But.. I feel good when supplementing Vitamin D?
Oral cholecalciferol has a steroidal effect. When you take it, you may feel better for a short amount of time because it is suppressing your immune system. Not because it's healthy for you.
Studies
Renal potassium wasting induced by supplementing Vitamin-D.
Vitamin D claimed infant lives.
Vitamin K2 does not protect you from Vitamin D.
Hypercalcemia and metastatic calcification.
Acute Vitamin D3 toxicity in horses. - "Horse 4 developed limb stiffness and tachycardia, became anorectic, weak, and recumbent, lost 29% of body weight, and had polydipsia and polyuria. Horses 2, 3, and 4 developed persistent hyperphosphatemia. Horses 3 and 4 became hypercalcemic by day 28 (yes, this will create vascular issues).
10 year old dies from Vitamin D Overdose.
Severe hypercalcemia from Vitamin D supplements.
Vitamin D tested as chemical/biological warfare agent: "Records of clinical tests with cholecalciferol — or vitamin D3 — show that dogs given three consecutive overdoses of the substance took four to seven days to die. Vervet monkeys fed a low dosage over a 30-day period died of heart failure 65 days after first ingesting the substance, suffering nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, itching, disorientation and peripheral nerve damage in the interim."
Conclusion
So, the crux of it is, it's not a vitamin, or a "vital" "amine". It's a powerful steroid hormone that can destabilize your other hormones and calcify you into a standing statue.
It has toxic effects when taken orally as a supplement. It calcifies the soft tissues of the body regardless of whether you take it with Magnesium and K2.
We are NOT all deficient, not even those in the northern climates and we do not need to be seeking to raise storage levels through supplementation.
If you're interested in the proper way to raise your levels, invest in a Vitamin D Sunlamp from Sperti (and no, I am not affiliated with them).
